Liquid Absorber

Prevents Leaks & Moisture Damage from Liquids

Effectively protect products and packaging from leaks and moisture damage during transport and storage. Our ThoMar liquid absorber bags, manufactured in Germany, bind escaping aqueous liquids quickly and reliably.

What is a liquid absorber?

Leaked liquids within packaging and sealed containers can cause serious moisture damage. To prevent this, liquid absorbers are used. LiquiDry is a particularly effective absorber in bag form that rapidly absorbs aqueous liquids. The innovative technology converts the absorbed liquid into a stable gel. Unlike a sponge, LiquiDry does not release liquid even under pressure. These properties make ThoMar LiquiDry the ideal solution to effectively prevent moisture damage during packaging, transport, and storage.

Versatile Applications

LiquiDry was developed to provide reliable protection against moisture damage in a wide range of applications. Particularly noteworthy are applications in the transport and storage of sensitive products, as well as during the decanting and pouring of aqueous liquids. The target group includes a variety of industries, including logistics, electronics, and sensitive areas such as pharmaceuticals, medicine, and hygiene. For example, LiquiDry offers a safe and hygienic solution that prevents leaks during the transport of blood or urine.

Advantages of ThoMar Liquid Absorber Bags

The use of LiquiDry offers numerous advantages:

  • Highly efficient absorption: Aqueous liquids, such as blood or urine, are quickly and securely bound, which facilitates cleaning and disposal.
  • Prevents moisture damage: Protects products during packaging, transport, and storage.
  • Hygienic and safe: Self-dissolving bag made of water-soluble paper.
  • Made in Germany: The sachets are manufactured at our site in Northern Germany – for short delivery routes and the highest quality standards according to ISO 9001.

Available Bag Sizes and Specific Applications

LiquiDry is available in three grammages, developed for different requirements:

  • 0.5 g: For small sample containers and sensitive individual packaging.
  • 1.5 g: Suitable for standard samples or smaller transport containers.
  • 5 g: For larger liquid volumes or industrial applications.

In addition, special bag sizes and customization to individual customer needs are available upon request.

How LiquiDry Works

LiquiDry uses a highly effective superabsorbent granulate (sodium polyacrylate) – also known as a water blocker – which effectively absorbs and binds aqueous liquids. The bag is made of water-soluble paper that dissolves upon contact with liquid, allowing the granulate to act directly.

The process is based on the chemical structure of the superabsorbent granulate sodium polyacrylate, which converts liquids into a stable hydrogel through swelling. The polymer chains efficiently bind water molecules by exchanging sodium ions and expanding into a three-dimensional network. This creates a gel that does not release liquid even under pressure and can absorb up to 250 times its own weight in water. For distilled water, the absorption capacity can reach this maximum factor of its own weight, while for a 0.9% saline solution, it can reach 60 times.

Application Examples: Liquid Absorbers in Practice

LiquiDry finds practical application in many industries:

  • Logistics: Safe transport of products sensitive to moisture.
  • Electronics: Protection of sensitive components from moisture damage.
  • Medicine: Transport and storage of medical samples such as blood and urine to prevent leaks and contamination.
  • Pharma: Securing sensitive medicines against moisture damage.
