Desiccant bags for every application
Desiccants are used in many areas to protect goods from moisture damage during transport and storage. The active granulate is usually pre-packed in bags for more practical use. Furthermore, this prevents direct contact with the goods to be protected. There is a wide selection of desiccant bags for all possible needs: they can be used either inside packaging or outside, e.g., in a freight container or a storage room. Some desiccant bags are standardized according to DIN 55473 or certified for contact with food, manufactured individually or on spools for automated processing, and designed for a particularly fast onset of action or particularly long-lasting effectiveness.
Often the field of application is larger than the original application idea.
Which is the most effective desiccant?
CertiDry
- certified according to DIN 55473, also meets the technical requirements of MIL-D-3464E
- contains unbaked clay as active granulate
- absorbs 25-30% of its own weight in moisture (approx. 280 ml of water vapor per kilogram)
- Bag material low-dust or dust-proof, many sizes available: 1/6 desiccant unit (approx. 2 g) to 32 DU (approx. 1,024 g)
- Use inside packaging: yes
- Use in containers / large rooms: limited
Desi Dry
- Silica gel packets in many sizes (0.5 g to 250 g)
- optional: food-grade quality
- optional: with optical saturation indicator (orange silica gel)
- absorbs 30-40% of its own weight in moisture (approx. 300 to 400 ml of water vapor per kilogram)
- Use inside packaging: yes
- Use in containers / large rooms: no
MiniDryy® – Sachets / Strips
- Desiccant bags with silica gel, molecular sieve or activated carbon + silica gel
- for use in pharmaceutical packaging and in the food industry
- optional: Made in Germany
- Single bags or spooled goods
- configurable according to customer specifications (only in bulk containers)
- Auditing possible
- Use inside packaging: yes
- Use in containers / large rooms: no
BoxDryy®
- innovative high-performance desiccant bag with magnesium chloride active granulate
- 2.5 to 5 times higher moisture absorption than silica gel and DIN desiccants
- absorbs many times its own weight and binds moisture leak-proof
- can be used directly in the box – without additional film or outer packaging
- various sizes available for different packaging requirements
- Use inside packaging: yes
- Use in containers / large rooms: limited
SeaDry Single 125 g
- modern high-performance desiccant bag for transport and storage
- dehumidifier based on salt-starch
- Salt attracts humidity and becomes liquid, liquid is then trapped by starch (gel formation)
- absorbs ≥ 250% of its own weight in water vapor under real conditions, ≥ 300% under extreme conditions ⓘ
- optional: with adhesive strip on the back
- Made in Germany
- Use inside packaging: limited
- Use in containers / large rooms: yes
Master Dry
- Used for dehumidifying larger rooms, e.g., during storage
- consists of baked clay granulate and salt
- Salt attracts humidity, clay granulate binds moisture
- absorbs 60% of its own weight in moisture (approx. 600 ml of water vapor per kilogram)
- is regenerable, has a climate-regulating effect (also releases moisture back)
- three sizes available (250g, 1kg, 2kg)
- Made in Germany
- Use inside packaging: no
- Use in containers / large rooms: limited

Which desiccant bags for which application?
Desiccants according to the industrial standard DIN 55473 are used particularly in the export sector, e.g., by specialized export packers. The desiccant bags are placed or hung directly in the packaging of the goods to be transported or stored. It should be noted that the packaged goods and the desiccant must be sealed off from the outside climate using a barrier layer (in-box desiccant).
DIN 55473 desiccant bags are particularly well-suited for protecting sensitive goods from moisture during long-term storage and transport. When used correctly, they prevent mold growth, corrosion, and other moisture damage. They are well-suited for protecting, for example, electronic devices, machine parts, leather goods, chemical products, and pharmaceutical preparations from excessive humidity within the shipping packaging.
The small bags filled with silica gel are the ideal companion for sensitive goods, as they can be added directly to product packaging. Silica gel packets protect your goods, from electrical appliances to leather goods and textiles to packaged food, from moisture damage during transport and storage. Since the silica gel packets absorb moisture from the air inside the packaging, no condensation can form when used correctly. This prevents mold growth, corrosion, softened cardboard, and changes in smell and taste.
Desiccant bags for insertion in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical packaging. The granulates and wrapping materials used are suitable for use under the strictest requirements, and the performance and adsorption capacity of the sachets/strips meet the highest standards.
Available as single bags (sachets) and spooled goods (strips) for automatic separation. Both standard products and custom-made products according to customer specifications are possible.
BoxDryy® is a modern high-performance desiccant bag specifically developed for direct use in the box. Unlike classic in-box desiccants, no additional barrier layer is required because the absorbed moisture is securely bound in the bag. This makes BoxDryy® particularly easy and efficient to integrate into existing packaging processes.
Thanks to its powerful active ingredient base, BoxDryy® absorbs a multiple of moisture compared to conventional desiccants and reliably protects sensitive products from corrosion, mold, and moisture damage. It is ideal for use with metal parts, electronics, textiles, or leather goods along the entire supply chain – while simultaneously reducing material usage and ensuring high efficiency.
Due to its small size, the desiccant fits into almost any gap in a tightly packed container and can be optimally distributed. With its adhesive strip, it can be attached to the packaged goods, the stowage material, or even the container wall.
Under certain circumstances, SeaDry Single can also be used as an in-box desiccant bag. Due to the significantly larger absorption capacity compared to DIN desiccants, the same results can be achieved here with fewer bags. It must be ensured that the water-vapor-permeable fleece top of the bags does not come into contact with sensitive surfaces.
Furthermore, SeaDry Singles can be used for the transport or storage of vehicles. They can be quickly and easily distributed in the vehicle and then protect the interior from condensation during long transports or, for example, in outdoor storage for used cars. Here too: no contact of the fleece top with sensitive materials on / in the car.
The yellow Master Dry desiccant bags are suitable for storage in larger rooms. Their advantage over SeaDry high-performance desiccant bags, which can absorb significantly more moisture, is that Master Dry desiccant bags also release the absorbed moisture back into the air if the surrounding air is sufficiently dry. They therefore have a climate-regulating effect. Stored goods and products, e.g., machines, metals, furniture, textiles, and filing cabinets, can thus be protected from moisture damage such as corrosion and mold. The required amount of Master Dry desiccant bags is distributed as evenly as possible in the room to be protected. As with SeaDry, care must be taken that the fleece does not touch any of the stored items.
