Dehumidification in spaces that are not sealed airtight
In spaces that are not sealed airtight, such as containers or temporary storage areas, humidity and fluctuating temperatures can quickly lead to damage to goods, packaging, and load securing. As a desiccant specialist, ThoMar has more than 25 years of experience in this field and explains why SeaDry high-performance desiccants are ideally suited for these applications.
Do you transport your goods by sea container or use rail container transport via the New Silk Road?
Your top priority is surely that the cargo arrives at your customer’s site complete and undamaged. For load securing, stretch film, lashing straps, anti-slip mats, and other packing aids are used. Nevertheless, when the container is opened, there is often an unpleasant surprise: High humidity and extremely fluctuating temperatures have caused damage over the weeks-long transport—either to the goods themselves, the packaging, or packing materials. Every carrier’s nightmare.
Even the temperature fluctuations between day and night can be enough for humidity in storage areas to repeatedly exceed a critical level. As with container transport, possible consequences include mold, rust, and changes in odor or taste affecting the contents and packaging of stored cartons, big bags, or break-bulk cargo.
Do you use containers as additional storage space, on a permanent or temporary basis?
If you, too, have encountered the unpleasant consequences of transport or storage damage caused by humidity—or would like to prevent it—please be assured: you are not alone. It does not matter whether you manufacture cars, machine parts, or metal coils, brew or bottle beverages and spirits, or produce foodstuffs or products made from textiles and leather.
ThoMar OHG recommends using a long-term effective dehumidifier based on a salt-starch formulation.
The salt attracts moisture from the surrounding air, which is then immediately and securely bound into a gel by the starch and can no longer escape.
Our high-performance desiccant SeaDry was originally developed specifically for use in sea containers, but is also ideally suited for use in container trains. It also provides optimal protection for stored goods against moisture damage. Customers from a wide range of industries, such as mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing, and the food industry, trust in the performance of SeaDry from ThoMar.
