The evaluation of the data loggers showed that a relative humidity of up to 80% was reached in the vehicle interior during transport. This led to odor development in the interior. At the same time, the critical rust threshold for corrosion was regularly exceeded in the container, which promoted the formation of flash rust and further corrosion damage.
Based on the measurement results, ThoMar recommended a two-stage solution: The SeaDry Strip ADH desiccant strip was installed in the container to reduce humidity throughout the container space. Additionally, a compact SeaDry Single desiccant bag was placed in the vehicle interior to specifically absorb moisture inside the car.
After implementing the desiccant solution, no further complaints were received from the recipient. The vehicles reached their destination without a musty odor in the interior, and the corrosion risk in the container was significantly reduced. The combined use of SeaDry Strip ADH and SeaDry Single thus proved to be an effective measure for moisture protection during vehicle transport in containers.
