Challenge: Harsh conditions meet sensitive instrumentation
Marine measurement systems collect environmental, meteorological and operational data at sea and at offshore installations. They are used on monitoring buoys and other floating measurement platforms, unmanned surface vessels and monitoring systems at offshore wind farms.
Residual moisture trapped inside even sealed housings, enclosures and internal compartments can condense when temperatures fluctuate sharply. This increases the risk of corrosion and malfunctions affecting sensors, control systems, connectors and data and communications equipment. As these systems often operate unattended for extended periods, moisture damage can result in inaccurate or incomplete data and require costly offshore maintenance visits.
