Moisture protection in animal feed packaging

A manufacturer of specialized feed for livestock produces tablets that are individually packed in aluminum composite bags. These tablets are highly hygroscopic and quickly absorb moisture from the environment during transport and storage. This causes the tablets to crumble when removed from the bags.

Challenge: moisture protection for hygroscopic tablets

The tablets are produced at 20% relative humidity but are highly hygroscopic. Throughout the entire logistics chain, especially with fluctuations in ambient temperature and humidity, the tablets absorbed too much moisture. This led to a deterioration of the tablet structure, causing them to crumble when removed from the bags.

Solution: Desi Dry as reliable moisture protection

After the first attempt of placing desiccants in the outer carton proved insufficient, an alternative solution was developed with our desiccant specialists. The 20 individual tablet bags were packed into an additional aluminum composite bag, and a dust-proof Desi Dry silica gel bag was also included.

Result: Consistent animal feed quality through desiccants

The addition of the silica gel bag provided targeted moisture protection, ensuring the tablets remained in perfect condition during transport and storage.
