Protecting components of clamping devices for vehicle construction against moisture

A ThoMar customer transported automated structural plates – platforms for fixtures in the quality assurance of body components – in a container from Germany to Asia. Since electronic components were integrated, the export packaging had to be reliably protected against moisture.

Challenge: protecting electronic components during sea transport

Structural plates with sensitive electronics react even to moderate humidity. During the long container transport, there was a risk of condensation, corrosion, and mold growth – both on the goods themselves and on the wooden export crate.

Solution: Combination of DIN desiccants and high-performance desiccant blankets

In close coordination, the customer packed the structural plates in a customized aluminum composite cover, airtightly sealed and equipped with DIN 55473 desiccant bags. In addition, SeaDry Blanket desiccant blankets were placed on the foil cover to also protect the wooden export crate from potential mold growth. ThoMar supplied the necessary desiccants, advised the customer regarding the required foil cover, and provided the purchasing contact for it.

Result: Secure delivery without moisture damage

Thanks to the combined protective measures, the structural plates reached their destination without moisture or mold damage. The packaging solution offered reliable all-round protection for the material, electronics, and export crate.
