Protecting textile goods during transportation by container

An international textile manufacturer faced the challenge of safely transporting its goods from Europe to the Far East. Due to geopolitical conditions, the sea route around the Cape of Good Hope was chosen. Experience shows that a total transfer time of up to 14 weeks must be expected. The containers repeatedly pass through changing climatic conditions. This means the risk of moisture damage, such as mold, softened cardboard, and unpleasant odors, is to be considered very high.

SeaDry protects textiles from moisture damage

Challenge: moisture-sensitive textiles without individual packaging

The textiles were covered with film in the cardboard packaging but not individually packed in polybags. The customer’s original idea of adding silica gel packets to the cartons proved unsuitable, as silica gel is only effective in airtight packaging.

Solution: Use of SeaDry High-Performance Desiccants

ThoMar recommended the use of SeaDry Single 125g desiccant bags. These high-performance desiccants absorb seven times more moisture than silica gel, offering optimal protection during long sea transport.

Result: Prevention of moisture damage to textiles

By using SeaDry, moisture damage was prevented, and the goods were delivered safely and in perfect condition to the recipient. This led to high customer satisfaction and long-term trust in the use of SeaDry for future shipments.
