How to use SeaDry container desiccant
ThoMar SeaDry is a high-performance shipping container desiccant that provide essential moisture protection for sea freight transported in shipping containers. Moisture absorbers are needed to maintain a dry environment for sensitive goods to protect them from moisture damage. SeaDry desiccant for containers offers effective protection for products like engine parts, steel coils, furniture and other packaged goods, including packaged food.
In addition to sea freight transportation, SeaDry desiccant is also ideally suited for use in warehousing and prefabricated construction. SeaDry is an effective solution wherever excessive humidity in large, enclosed spaces is a threat. For optimum moisture control, products should be distributed evenly throughout the container, enclosed storage space or modular construction space. Made in Germany – you can rely on the quality of all SeaDry products. All ingredients are REACH-compliant and no DMF is included.
How does SeaDry shipping container desiccant absorb moisture?
SeaDry container desiccants consist of a mixture of calcium chloride and starch with a water absorption capacity of over 200 per cent. Moisture is drawn from the ambient air in the container, making air humidity drop to an uncritical level. The starch binds the absorbed moisture as a gel, thus preventing water from escaping from the bags. This is how SeaDry moisture absorbers minimise the risk of moisture damage to goods – corrosion, mould, softened cartons and detached labels – during transport or prolonged storage.
What types of desiccant bags for shipping containers are available?
The front or top of SeaDry container desiccants are covered in an HDPE (high density polyethylene) fleece, through which humidity enters, but cannot escape. The back or underside of the SeaDry product consists of a moisture-impermeable multi-layer film.
