The analysis showed that the production-related residual moisture of the starch led to the formation of condensation water within the stretch-wrapped pallets. Without the possibility of air circulation, moisture increased on the bag surface – ideal conditions for mold formation.
The stowage plan and the container loading process required a desiccant solution that could be placed directly on the bagged goods. The customer chose the SeaDry Blanket desiccant blanket. Additionally, the cover film on the pallets was omitted to enable better air circulation. Furthermore, the customer placed SeaDry Single desiccant bags in empty spaces between the bags to reduce moisture directly within the pallet packaging.
Through the combination of desiccant blanket, additional individual bags, and optimized packaging processes, moisture and condensation could be effectively controlled. Since implementation of the measures, no further mold or odor problems occurred during the transport of starch.
